The Unsung Flavours of Sheffield uncovers the city’s often-overlooked food heritage — a story every bit as rich as its steelmaking past. Produced by the Dungworth Bradfield Heritage Group and compiled by Neil Anderson, the book was funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and brings together months of community research, archive investigation and first-hand memories.
It traces the roots of Sheffield’s best-known food names — from Bassett’s and Batchelor’s to Thorntons, Henderson’s Relish and Béres — revealing how these household brands grew out of the city’s streets, shops and factories. Local families, schools and volunteers contributed their own stories, photographs and memorabilia, helping to create a record of a once-thriving industry that shaped both the city’s economy and its sense of identity.

A welcome reminder of Birmingham in the early to mid 80’s. I would like a follow book with more paragraphs/chapters dedicated to the Nightclubs and Pubs of the era. More random photos to go along with them. I played in a band, so the Barrel Organ,The Railway were gigs to aspire too, in Birmingham. The historic Barton Arms,Fighting Cox,Red Lion Kings Heath,49 era and the Junction in Harborne, need to be remembered and recognised more fully. The Tower Ballroom and The Irish Centre for meeting people and more..
