An art project that was originally conceived as a way to help people get through the monotony of lockdown has gone on public display for the first time. The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Gail Smith, officially unveiled ‘Sheffield’s iconic venues – re-imagined in lockdown’ at the Moor Market this week. She was joined by artist Alan Pennington and Dirty Stop Outs’ Neil Anderson. The event – which celebrates the era defined by venues like the Bradbury Club and Xanadu – follows our sellout hit just a few weeks before the original lockdown. Former patrons of a legendary Sheffield rock bar came out in their droves to mark the official unveiling of our brand new book. The ‘Dirty Stop Out’s Guide to Sheffield – Wapentake Edition’ chronicles the life of the subterranean bar that ran for nearly a quarter of a century underneath the Grosvenor House Hotel in the city centre.
