About the book:
It was meant to set the scene for everything that followed - but within weeks the music world would be mourning the tragic loss of one its brightest stars.
In January of 1960, Britain rocked to the first-ever all-rock'n'roll package tour pairing American stars Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent with a cavalcade of home-grown talent which tore up and down the country, playing to screaming crowds all through winter and into spring.
In April the British music world was shocked to the core with the news that a road traffic accident involving the two American stars had left Eddie Cochran dead.
This book is a definitive account of that tour. It tells the story of the people on the stage; the people off the stage; the people that saw the shows and more.
It includes rare photos and archive material and goes through the tour venue by venue.
Vince Eager, celebrated UK rock'n'roll star that performed on many of the dates, has written the book's foreword with his own memories.
Eddie Cochran's influence is still as strong today as it was sixty years when the tour took place. We leave the last word of the book to twice Mercury Prize-nominated Richard Hawley:
"Out of all those brilliant rockers from the '50s it was always going to be Eddie Cochran for me - he had the whole package. He was a fluent and inventive guitar player, a unique singer and a gifted songwriter."
Always been an Eddie Cochran fan and loved this book on the fatal tour, great photos, comments and reviews.
I love this book, it's brilliant. Written with genuine care by Adrian McKenna & John Firminger. It's chocker block with details, and has clearly been well researched. Some fascinating reminiscences from people who knew, and worked with, Eddie. It really is a great read from start to finish. This should be essential reading for fans of Eddie, and rock n roll music in general. Full credit to the authors on a superb piece of work.
First class well researched book
