To celebrate the release of the Dirty Stop Out’s Guide to 1970s Barnsley, author Nik Farah, and Dirty Stop Out creator Neil Anderson are inviting you to step back in time, with a ‘Club Ba-Ba re-creation’ launch night party at New Lodge WMC.
And the event, on November 2, has a jam-packed line-up, with the fabulous Grumbleweeds taking centre-stage – as they ‘return to Ba-Ba’ for one night only, with their brand new show – and compere Stephanie King stepping behind the mic to belt out some glam-era tracks.
There will also be an appearance by Barnsley singer and historian, Dave Cherry, who will be taking the audience on a trip down memory lane as he recalls his years gigging in the local pubs and clubs throughout the 70s; rolling in at 2am, and being back up at 5am to head down t’pit!
Local female duo Chaos will be delighting with some favourite 70s tracks, to get everyone’s toes tapping, and Barnsley photographic giants, Stan Plus Stan Two, will be exhibiting a collection of their 1970s photographs on the night – most of which have never previously been seen!
And in true 70s style, the fabulous Northern Vintage Tea Company will be serving up a delicious, and traditional, chicken-in-a-basket, which can be ordered when you book tickets.
There will also be the chance to chat with Nik and pick up your own copy of the book, which celebrates all that was wild and glamorous about this spectacular decade.
Dress to impress – it maybe worth digging out those white boots in a nod to the era…
